Helping along the way
Giving Back

Our philosophy of doing what we love and helping along the way, has made us more conscious about our surroundings and the communities we work so closely together with. Throughout the years we have expanded our small family business in Nepal, where we empower a local community in our atelier by providing them a chance to be creative and a secure income to support their families.

But there is so much more to do in a country like Nepal and the urge to contribute to its development and to a positive change keeps growing. That’s why we want to give something valuable back to the country we love so much. And we want to do it ourselves, so we can follow up each progress step by step.

Throughout our daily routines of working and living in Nepal, we are confronted each day of the fact that Nepal still is a third world country. It is one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. There are so many things we can do to help, so we have decided to set up a small project, helping one community at the time. And what better than to start with the most valuable and essential thing in life: safe water.

Clean water isn’t a luxury – it’s a basic human right. One that millions of people around the world lack access to because of water sources that are unsafe or far from home. For many people in Nepal finding water is a daily challenge. Every day they suffer from a lack of access to clean, safe water.

For us, this might not be a reality that we have to face day in day out but in Nepal, as in many other third world countries, the water crisis is real. It’s affecting women, children, families and farmers. Lack of access to safe water and proper sanitation limits education and food production, it harms health and leads to a never ending cycle of poverty. Safe water is the main source for any community in the developing world to begin moving towards self-sufficiency and stability.

During our last visit to Nepal in November 2018 we decided to put our project into action. We were looking to set up our first safe water project in Chitwan. Most of our artisans left their homes in the Chitwan area to relocate to the capital Kathmandu in search of work. From a tourist point of view, Chitwan is the place where you can spot wild animals such as rhinos and tigers, but for the locals this place is a struggle. There are very little work opportunities and its extremely hot and dry climate doesn’t bring any advantages. With the help of Laxmi, one of our tailors, we got in contact with a local school there. This school educates approximately 900 students from all the neighboring villages – children who didn’t have access to safe water.
After months of preparation, partnering up with the community and local expertise we managed to build a new sustainable water tank with an advanced built-in water purification system.

It has been a very rewarding and emotional experience to see the enthusiasm and gratitude of these students. And it has also had a very positive impact on us, because we have realized that we made a difference in the lives of these students. Accomplishing this project has motivated and given us the confidence to continue to take greater risks in the future in order to give back to Nepal, because we know now that an idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea.

Every little bit helps, so we would also like to involve you – our customer – in this process. You can help end the water crisis and restore hope. This is your chance to make a change and provide clean, safe and reliable water today. Anyone can make a positive change in the world when we work together. When you support one of our upcoming projects, you help make a difference.
